Patrol Division Basic Tactics

32 training hours (4 days)

 
The basic tactics course is designed for patrol officers who may find themselves in a situation where suspects have fire superiority, a fixed position, or have initiated offensive action against patrol officers responding to an incident in progress.

Prerequisites:

Restricted to full time local, state, and federal law enforcement officers and active duty military police.

Subjects include:

  • Lessons learned from recent armed confrontations
  • Basic maneuver tactics
  • Armed confrontations
  • Engaging with duty weapons
  • Deployment of rifle
  • Use of cover & concealment
  • Defensive tactics in and around vehicle
  • Assessment, withdrawal, and containment techniques
  • Immediate action drills
  • Countermeasures for IEDs

 

Equipment Needed:

  • Duty uniform (complete with duty gear)
  • Body armor
  • Ballistic eye protection
  • Ear protection
  • Duty weapon
  • Long gun in vehicle
  • 200 rounds duty ammunition for pistol
  • 100 rounds duty ammunition for long gun
