Methods of Entry

32 training hours (4 days)

This course covers the selection, use, and supporting tactics required for teams to enter a structure using the manual breaching techniques available in today’s market. This course should be attended by all officers (Patrol, SWAT and narcotics) that may have to conduct high risk warrants and breach a barricaded structure to ensure safe team entry into the building. All breaching capabilities are included in this course except the use of explosives.

Prerequisites:

Restricted to full time local, state, and federal law enforcement officers assigned to a SWAT/SRT team and active duty military personnel.

Subjects include:

  • Manual breaching of barricaded doors and windows
  • Shotgun breaching of locks, dead bolt locks, and hinges
  • Hydraulics (rabbit tool, jamb spreader, etc.)
  • Thermal breaching (BROCO torch) for steel/concrete
  • Quickie saw for steel/concrete
  • Planning
  • All supporting tactics to include approach, obstacles, and actions at breach point
  • Scenario based training that is conducted on actual buildings

 

Equipment Needed:

  • Body armor
  • Load bearing vest
  • Primary weapon (MP5, M4, etc.)
  • Service pistol
  • 350 rounds for primary weapon (MP5/M4/Shotgun)
  • 50 rounds for service pistol
  • Duty belt
  • Weapons cleaning system
  • Helmet
  • Respirator
  • Safety glasses or goggles
  • Ear protection
  • Assault gloves
  • Knee & elbow pads
  • Radio with ear piece and remote mike (only if attending as a team)
  • Nomex balaclava
  • Nomex or other flame resistant clothing-BDUs (recommended)
  • Good pair of boots
  • Straight bladed knife with sheath
  • Flashlight
  • First aid kit (personal)
  • Nylon cord (30 meters)
  • Mirror (tactical)
  • Wire cutters (not mandatory)
  • Watch 
  • Waterproof notebook / Pencil / Pencil
  • Rubber door wedges (2) (not mandatory)
  • Hydration System (CamelBak)
  • Camera (if you want to take pictures during the course
